Off-duty Stamford firefighter smells smoke, calls in fire

Stamford firefighters work to extinguish a fire near the intersection of Summer and North Streets in Stamford, Conn., on Tuesday, January 13, 2015. Firefighters were called shortly after 4 p.m. to a report of heavy smoke coming from a residence in back of the Midtown News store at 933 Summer St. The fire was quickly extinguished, but the cause remains under investigation.
