STAMFORD, Conn. -- A humble Genaro J. "Gene" Rubino said he never expected to be named the city's Citizen of the Year and said he was overwhelmed by the honor after a ceremony Tuesday morning at the Stamford Government Center, where his photo now graces a wall.
