In a tight race for re-election Gov. Dannel P. Malloy came out swinging Friday at the Stamford Chamber of Commerce's 27th annual meeting, highlighting his accomplishments and management of the state's finances, stating he racked up four years of budget surpluses after dealing with a $3.6 billion deficit when he took office. Malloy had to cut his presentation short to travel to Bridgeport to look at the damage of Thursday night's devastating warehouse fire that destroyed two businesses .But before he left, the governor pointed to his record in improving the state's transportation system, saying under his leadership, Connecticut has spent $500 million in the effort.
