Stamford date-rape suspect testifies in own defense

The two-day trial of a Stamford man accused of date rape ended Tuesday with the defendant making an unusual decision to take the stand in his own defense, claiming the sex he had with a woman he was dating was consensual. Nicoli Ariel Quijano , 22, of Nelson Street, told the jury under questioning by his own attorney that he had gone out on dates with his then 19-year-old accuser about a half-dozen times over a three-month period ending in late May 2013.
