Stamford to get 10 years for Bradford's stabbings

Rather than risk a much stiffer jail sentence by taking his assault case to trial, a city man pleaded guilty Wednesday to committing two stabbings at a popular Bedford Street night club in July 2013 and will be sentenced to spend 10 years in jail for the assaults. Steven "Seagull" Barnes, 25, of Southwood Dr., Stamford, made the guilty pleas to two counts of first-degree assault before Judge Richard Comerford at the Stamford courthouse and will be sentenced to 10 years in jail and five years of special parole when he returns to court April 30. Barnes and his defense attorney Gary Mastronardi were set to begin choosing jurors Tuesday for his jury trial scheduled to begin on Feb. 26 with Judge Bruce Hudock presiding.
