Conviction reinstated in warrantless search case

A divided Connecticut Supreme Court on Tuesday reinstated a gun conviction against a man who awaits sentencing in a related New Jersey homicide case, ruling that police properly conducted a warrantless search in Stamford that found the murder weapon. Supreme Court Justice Andrew McDonald wrote in a dissent that the 4-2 decision "should concern us all" and the ramifications mostly likely "will fall disproportionately on members of our minority communities," because the search was based only on a vague description of a black man.
