Winter's cold grip on Fairfield County will not loosen over the weekend, and a wintry mix is expected to move into the area just in time for the Monday morning commute, according to the National Weather Service. As dangerously cold temperatures and wind chills continue to affect the state, Gov. Dannel Malloy announced he is extending the state's Severe Cold Weather Protocol through Sunday morning, Jan. 11. "With forecasted overnight lows in the single digits and below zero wind chills, I have directed the state Sever Weather Protocol be kept in place through Sunday morning," said Malloy.
