Stamford archives: Week of March 15

Nearly 70 electric transformers in the city malfunctioned Saturday night, sending huge flashes of light into the sky over Stamford and cutting electricity to more than 21,000 residences over the weekend. "It was like Yankee Stadium on the Fourth of July," city highways worker Rich Valentine said.
