A homeowner with only a bat in his hand to protect his young child and wife sleeping in their North Stamford home was able to scare off two early morning intruders last Wednesday, police said. Lt. Diedrich Hohn said police were called at 2 a.m. regarding a home invasion in progress on Mountain Wood Road in North Stamford.
