Even as Stamford companies like RollEase look to sell their wares abroad, a small cluster of local commodities traders are moving the needle of statewide export figures. Exports of goods produced in Connecticut dropped 3.2 percent in 2014 -- but if calculated by a different criterion published by the federal government, they reached a new high, in part fueled by a quiet cluster of companies with Stamford offices.
