Teenage girls in Stamford worried about the high cost of prom will be able to get a dress free of charge as the dancing season comes closer. At the annual "Handled With Care Dress Boutique" organized by the nonprofit Kids Helping Kids, hundreds of teens will browse through new or gently used prom dresses, homecoming dresses, bridesmaid dresses and evening wear for girls ages 13 to 19. The picking, choosing and trying on will occur Friday at the Boys & Girls Club of Stamford at 347 Stillwater Ave., from 6 to 9 p.m. Lexi Kelley, 18, the founder of Kids Helping Kids and the 2015 Newtown Act of Kindness Award recipient, said nearly 200 teenage girls were served last year with free formal wear.
