The Stamford State's Attorney's scathing critique of the Stamford Public Schools as having a culture that puts "institutional defense and system reputation above student safety" and allowed a sexual relationship between a teacher and a student to go unreported was met with mixed reaction from schools and city officials. Board of Education member Jackie Heftman described prosecutor David Cohen 's speech as a "diatribe," and said he "felt the need to try this in the court of public opinion."
