Frontier, XPO, Patriot register big gains

Exiting 2014, Frontier Communications, XPO Logistics and Patriot National Bank saw their shares appreciate by about half or more during the year, while gunmaker Sturm Ruger was the lone local issue to see its stock drop by that margin. Hearst Connecticut Media analyzed shares of more than 50 local companies with headquarters in Fairfield County or large employee bases here, 20 of them in Stamford, including Frontier and Patriot National.
