Stamford lawmakers consider senior tax relief

The public will get a chance to weigh in on a proposal to give senior citizens a bigger break on their tax bills in the coming tax year, giving the highest exemptions to unmarried people making less than $40,000. Under the proposed pilot program, singles making less than $40,000 and married couples with an annual income of $50,000 or under would be given a tax abatement of $2,000.
