An executive with a fledgling intellectual property systems company is challenging a White House panel to address ways to improve the patent process and boost the nation's economy. In response to a request by the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy and the National Economic Council for public input into an update of the Strategy for American Innovation, Jon Ellenthal, vice chairman and CEO of Stamford-based Patent Properties, said unwanted lawsuits are the first and often the only way to make licensing deals.
